ABOUT

Words-Empire Magazine was founded in 2023 and formally established in 2024 under the umbrella of The Newborn Poets Forum, a community of emerging writers in Nigeria founded by Daniel AƓndona and strongly supported by Abubakar Auwal alongside Yahuza Usman. It was created as a platform for powerful, diverse literary voices.

In early 2024, the late Bill Ward, Founder of World Voices Magazine, served as Patron shortly before his passing. He published The Newborn Poets Anthology 2024 and the Words-Empire Premiere Issue, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire our mission.

Since its inception, Words-Empire has published writers from across Africa, Asia, Europe and America. In 2026, the magazine rebranded as an African literature promotion journal, proudly identifying as an African magazine dedicated to celebrating the richness of African storytelling, while remaining open to exceptional voices worldwide.

Our team now includes members from Nigeria, Liberia, Zimbabwe and Namibia, reflecting our growing continental reach.

Vision
To become the leading African literary magazine, recognized globally for excellence, championing African literature, shaping cultural conversations, and building a vibrant community of writers and readers across the continent and beyond.

Aim

To provide a reputable platform for emerging and established writers across Africa and the diaspora.

To remain open to outstanding global voices while firmly rooted in African identity.

To grow into the largest African literary magazine, hosting prestigious literary prizes, events, and initiatives that nurture talent and literary excellence.
