SACRED SCAR

she sells seashells by the seashore
_Terry Sullivan ‘08

i am a hungry man lying
on the street of hunger—
i have all it takes to fool myself
but i cannot consume the anger
of fooling myself.

the mountains, the seas, threatening
to engulf the island—I hope i can develop
with 'Asíwájú’ and his cohort, alas!
i couldn't control my fingerprints, i casted
my vote already.

i ensign constitutional rights & relied on
Peaceful Assembly’ but it cannot circumstance
the degree of blood that will shed to quench
what the masses are yearning.

he stepped on press and said: ‘i felt
your pain’

God forbids a time, i'll see a woman selling seashells
by the seashore & cry for seashells!
