The Country & The Song — Issue #2
Words-Empire Magazine — Issue #2
Music is a basic element of art , and isn’t art just as essential to life as music is to art?
In this second issue of Words-Empire Magazine, themed The Country & The Song, we witness a beautiful confluence of voice, place, and memory. From the resonant, sublime flow of poetry to engrossing short stories, every piece here hums with its own heartbeat.
Each work carries a tender story of homeland, sometimes hurting, sometimes stubborn, but always alive.
It is a great honor to feature an inspiring interview with Chiwenite Onyekwelu, journeying through his writing life and experiences as a Nigerian. I also wish to acknowledge S. Abdulwasi'h Olaitan, our selfless and passionate poetry editor, for his dedication in shaping much of this issue, from the theme and compilation to editing, interview, and more. To the rest of our incredible team; Yahuza Usman, Abubakar Auwal, and Ikechukwu Henry, this would not have been possible without your excellent support.
Finally, to our wonderful contributors: we deeply appreciate your talent and the artistry you’ve poured into these pages. Your poems sing of longing, endurance, survival, hope, and home in voices both intimate and unflinching. Your stories invite us into worlds painted with memory, truth, and imagination, each one, of course, leaves a trace of its music in the reader’s heart. This issue is, in many ways, a chorus of your visions, and we are grateful to have been entrusted with them.
