Mooch Simon // IN THE DARK WALLS // Poetry
Mooch Simon
IN THE DARK WALLS
Banged to walls
by ruthless grips of torture,
he kept singing the song_
he listened to
while young.
The song of how
antelope survived the hungry lion.
Psychological tears
ran down his eyes
faster than the savanna cheetah
as he remembered the good old days.
Just like seasonal floods,
agony captured in the corners of his mind.
In the darkest cell,
every day was the upgrade of hell.
He yelled not for pain
but for a quick embrace of death.
Cry of the innocent
stroke the walls to his heart.
Those hollowing in the crimes
they never touched.
Those whose humanity is blind.
The walls kept collapsing on him
aiding his decay
but the bones were not for that day.
His spirit has strength to delay
but my friend’s soul couldn’t wait till the last day
for a glimpse of hope to come.
After all the struggles to live behind bars,
death finally sat down with him.

THE LAST STAGE
Laughter and cheers
faded like the morning dew
with no eye witnesses.
The democratic ways
slowly dissolved
at the smile of darkness.
At the execution of developmental moves,
the happiness adorned with the history
became overloaded
and switched to the dictatorial hemispheres.
The last stage became
the lust stage of power
dumping the weight carried by the old state.
As the tired-days drove to sleep,
dictation locked doors at elections
and the night stretched long.
