Words-Empire Magazine, a non-profit literary publication, is seeking dedicated and passionate editors to join our team! As a volunteer-driven organization, we rely on the generosity of literary enthusiasts like yourself to help us curate exceptional content.
We're looking for editors from around the world to fill the following roles:
- Poetry Editors (closed for now)
- Short Story Editors
- Nonfiction Editors
- Review Editors
*Poetry Editor:*
- Reviews and selects poetry submissions for publication
- Works with poets to edit and refine their work
- Ensures poetry content aligns with the journal's tone and style
- Collaborates with other editors to maintain consistency throughout the journal
*Short Story Editor:*
- Reviews and selects short story submissions for publication
- Edits and revises short stories to ensure clarity, coherence, and engagement
- Works with authors to address character development, plot, and pacing issues
- Ensures short story content meets the journal's literary standards
*Nonfiction Editor:*
- Reviews and selects nonfiction submissions (essays, articles, memoirs, etc.) for publication
- Edits and fact-checks nonfiction pieces to ensure accuracy and clarity
- Works with authors to improve structure, tone, and overall flow
- Ensures nonfiction content aligns with the journal's tone and style
*Reviews Editor:*
- Assigns and manages book reviews, film reviews, or other review pieces
- Edits and revises reviews to ensure clarity, coherence, and engagement
- Works with reviewers to develop their writing style and critical thinking
- Ensures reviews meet the journal's standards and are published in a timely manner
*General Responsibilities:*
- Communicate effectively with writers, authors, and other editors
- Meet deadlines and manage time efficiently
- Maintain the journal's tone, style, and literary standards
- Collaborate with other editors to ensure consistency throughout the journal
Note
As an editor with Words-Empire Magazine, you'll be required to receive submissions in your genre during our reading periods, after which you will respond within a period of 2 weeks, and forward all accepted entries to the Editor-in-chief for final reviews and publication before the end of every month.
In order to lessen the task for each editor, the Editor-in-chief is responsible for supervising and assisting in the activities of every category.
